Event Details

QuickBooks is supposed to make running your business easier. But if you’ve ever opened it and wondered, What am I actually supposed to be doing in here?, you’re definitely not alone.

This casual, hands-on session is designed for small business owners who use QuickBooks Online and want to better understand what they’re looking at, what they should be doing regularly, and what they can safely leave to their bookkeeper or accountant.

We’ll walk through QuickBooks together, starting with the basics: navigating the system, understanding the Chart of Accounts, working with bank feeds, categorizing and matching transactions, handling income and expenses, and reconciling accounts. We’ll also look at the Profit & Loss and Balance Sheet and talk about what those reports are actually telling you about your business.

Along the way, we’ll cover some of the most common QuickBooks mistakes I see, why they happen, and how to avoid turning a small bookkeeping issue into a much bigger cleanup later.
This is not a three-hour lecture, and you don’t need to know bookkeeping terminology to attend. We’ll use real-world examples, work through QuickBooks together, and leave plenty of room for questions and discussion throughout the morning.

The goal isn’t to turn you into a bookkeeper. It’s to help you feel more comfortable inside QuickBooks, understand what’s happening with your books, and know when something doesn’t look quite right.
Participants will also leave with a simple monthly QuickBooks checklist they can use to keep their books on track after the session.

Your Instructor
Tera Bains is the owner of BusyBee Bookkeeping, a Peachtree City-based, remote bookkeeping firm she founded in 2019. BusyBee works with small business owners to keep their bookkeeping clean, consistent, and useful throughout the year, not just when tax time rolls around.

Tera has spent years working inside real small-business QuickBooks files, including plenty that needed a little love before they were ready to be useful again. She understands where business owners commonly get stuck, what actually matters, and what can quickly make a mess of a QuickBooks file.

Her approach is practical and judgment-free. You don’t need to know accounting jargon, and you definitely don’t need to show up with perfect books. Come with your questions, your confusion, and even your “I clicked something in QuickBooks six months ago and I have no idea what I did” moments. That’s exactly what this session is for.
